To celebrate Oktoberfest this month we go exploring the southern German state of Bavaria home to this world famous event! Discover natural beauty, stunning architectural landmarks and historic places from the days of the Third Reich...
There are a total of 6 clues some will link to each other and others will have you jumping around the country.
The hunt can be attempted for enjoyment without being timed or competitively being timed on our leader board.
Persons with a decent understanding of English.
Computer literate and knowledge of Google Earth.
Gameplay30-150 minutes(varies a lot depending if you get stuck or not).
Best done on 2 devices one for Google Earth and one for the questions (we recommend using Google Earth on a laptop if possible).
You will need a pen and paper for working out.
Access to the internet (a good connection helps).
Access to Google Earth.IMPORTANT NOTE- you must use Google Earth and not Google Maps, this can be downloaded as an app or launched from an internet browser.
A knowledge of how Google Earth works is useful but not essential - instructions are given.If you are a novice we strongly recommended having a quick play around on it before starting.For maximum enjoyment you should understand:
How street view works and using the arrows to move around inside it.
How the photos work and the ability to look around the photo.
If on PC how to use your scroll wheel to zoom in and out.
How the compass relates to your view.
Enter into Google Earth.
Complete each clue to get an answer.
Click to the next clue.
Enter the correct answer to gain access to the clue.
Find the X hidden on the last page and click it.
Use of the internet to help you is permitted.
For maximum enjoyment we suggest using one device for Google Earth, another for the questions and have a pen and paper to help with workings out.
Remember if you are stuck try re-reading the question carefully.
How to play
1. Competitively, being timed and logged in the leader boards to win prizes!
If you have registered for timed hunts then your time will automatically be submitted. Please note if you check the answers 20 minutes is added to your time.
The timer ends once you have found the X on the last page.
There is a pause button you may use but if you leave the web page then your time will be lost.
The game should take around 30-150 minutes.
Have Google Earth loaded up and ready to go before starting. If you aren't familiar with it then have a play around first.
If you didn't register for timed hunts and wish to then please send us your email with username and home town to firstname.lastname@example.org before or after doing the hunt.
